Preciosa copia en papel vitela fino de color marfil, montada sobre lienzo, con colores muy vivos. Los bordes están ligeramente oxidados. «En 1896, Jane Avril actuó en el Palace Theatre de Londres con la compañía de la señorita Églantine. Encargó el cartel del espectáculo a Toulouse-Lautrec mediante una carta, conservada en el museo de Albi, en la que indicaba el nombre y el orden de las bailarinas. Lautrec trabajó a partir de una fotografía, pero no siguió las indicaciones de su amiga. Colocó a las bailarinas de izquierda a derecha: Jane Avril ligeramente separada de las otras tres, seguida de Cleopatra, Églantine y Gazelle. Aquí se aprecia el arte de la síntesis del artista, que transforma la realidad de una fotografía en una composición muy gráfica, plana y lineal. (www.musee-toulouse-lautrec.com).
