LOS CARPINTEROS Una escultura dedicada al pasado del antiguo barrio industrial de Zúrich-Oeste Acuarela sobre papel, firmada y fechada en 2003 en la parte inferior derecha. Altura: 253 cm; Anchura: 151 cm (con el marco) Estuche de plexiglás (rayado) LOS CARPINTEROS, colectivo de artistas creado en 1992 en La Habana que sitúa la madera en el centro de su creación. Formado inicialmente por tres cubanos que se graduaron en 1994 en el Instituto Superior de las Artes de La Habana: Marco Antonio Castillo VALDES (nacido en 1971), Dagoberto Rodríguez SÁNCHEZ (nacido en 1969) y Alexandre Arrechea Jesús ZAMBRANO (nacido en 1970), el colectivo inició su actividad durante sus estudios y, posteriormente, en 2003, quedó reducido al dúo Valdés-Sánchez. Ambos viven y trabajan en La Habana y en Madrid, y realizan proyectos en Europa y en Estados Unidos. Sus instalaciones y performances, complementadas con dibujos en acuarela y vídeos que desafían las leyes de la naturaleza (herramientas tan grandes como torres de ladrillos), cuestionan el aspecto funcional de la arquitectura y el diseño.
