Firmado y fechado en la esquina inferior derecha: «Willy Stöwer 94 a bordo del SMS Wörth»; titulado en la esquina inferior izquierda. Ligeros pliegues. - Pintor marino e ilustrador alemán. S. trabajó, entre otros, por encargo del emperador Guillermo II, quien era uno de sus mayores admiradores y a quien el artista acompañó en varios viajes. La representación que hizo S. del hundimiento del Titanic se sigue reproduciendo hoy en día. En 1907 se le concedió el título de catedrático. Bibliografía: Thieme-Becker, entre otros.
