Figura ancestral muy antigua Madera, material con propiedades profilácticas; pátina antigua, gruesa en algunas zonas, con marcas de uso, erosiones y pequeñas pérdidas. Tejido y piel de reptil. Luba, Songye, República Democrática del Congo. 39 x 16 cm Ejemplar que incorpora piel de reptil, probablemente Varanus sp. Especie incluida en el Anexo II de la CITES y en el Anexo B del Reglamento (CE) n.º 338/97. Comercialización autorizada en la Unión Europea. La exportación fuera de la UE está sujeta a la obtención de un certificado CITES. Esculpida a modo de busto, la figura presenta un rostro con los ojos abiertos y la boca cerrada. Los brazos, separados del cuerpo, enmarcan un vientre redondeado sobre cuyo borde descansan las manos. Un cinturón de piel animal y materiales rituales rodea la cintura, mientras que una cavidad habilitada en la parte superior de la cabeza albergaba cargas mágicas con propiedades profilácticas.
