Copa de vino de palma con el retrato de un jefe Madera, pátina antigua de color miel y marrón, signos de uso. Kuba, República Democrática del Congo. 21,5 x 12,5 cm La copa tiene forma de cabeza de jefe, coronada por un amplio adorno estriado. Los párpados pesados y el rostro sereno le confieren una expresión de dignidad tranquila, mientras que una barba puntiaguda se prolonga hasta el esbelto pie, que se ensancha en una base circular. Denominadas mbwoong ntey, estas copas daban testimonio del refinamiento del arte de la corte kuba: afirmaban el prestigio de su propietario y su generosidad a la hora de compartir el vino de palma.
