EUTROPE BOURET (París, 1833 - 1906). "Pandora Bronce patinado. Firmada. Medidas: 47 x 17 x 15 cm. Representación mitológica en bronce de Pandora con traje histórico.Según una de las traducciones, Pandora, tras abrir la caja que Zeus le ofreció, liberó al mundo de las desgracias que encerraba en su interior. En el último momento, cerró la tapa, dejando la esperanza en la Tierra. Eutrope Bouret fue un escultor francés, discípulo de Louis Buhot. A lo largo de su carrera, el artista trabajó con diversas técnicas y materiales, como mármol, yeso, terracota y bronce; también realizó algunas piezas criselefantinas. Entre sus obras más destacadas figura el busto del escritor Alexis Bouvier, que en su día adornó su tumba en el popular cementerio parisino de Père-Lachaise, hoy desaparecido. La escultura de Bouret trata a menudo temas clásicos, como alegorías del amor, la primavera o las artes, pero también muestra un gran interés por la Edad Media en un sentido novelesco y romántico.
