Loppé Enmarcado 37 × 47,5 cm Como apasionado alpinista, Gabriel Loppé exploró el mundo de la montaña no solo con el pincel y el cuaderno de bocetos, sino también como experimentado escalador. Tras una breve estancia en el taller de François Diday en Ginebra, este artista francés desarrolló su pintura paisajística de forma mayoritariamente autodidacta. Vivió durante un tiempo en Annecy y Ginebra y pasó numerosos veranos en Chamonix, donde plasmó especialmente los glaciares y las cumbres del macizo del Mont Blanc. Además de los motivos de alta montaña, también se dedicó a los paisajes lacustres de Saboya. El presente cuadro, «Paysage du lac d'Annecy», se inscribe en esta tradición y pone de manifiesto su interés por el efecto atmosférico de la luz, la nieve y el agua.
