Fullarton en Londres en 1850. Esta obra pretendía reunir prácticamente todo lo que se sabía sobre las plantas y los animales del planeta. *La naturaleza animada* de Goldsmith llegó a tener más de veinte ediciones hasta bien entrada la época victoriana y sirvió como una popular fuente de información sobre el mundo natural.
