Gracias a Dios, el Luxemburgo, el Odéon y el Panteón no se han quemado y, gracias a ti, mis pocos muebles están intactos. Esperemos que esto haya terminado ya y que, durante mucho tiempo, no volvamos a ver algo semejante. Si podéis, poco a poco, darme noticias de algunas personas que quizá se hayan quedado en París, como la familia Buloz, de la calle Bonaparte, me haréis muy feliz [ ].
