El teólogo protestante y catedrático Johann Friedrich Kleuker (1749-1827) era amigo de Herder, Friedrich Heinrich Jacobi y Friedrich Leopold zu Stolberg-Stolberg; gracias a la mediación del conde Friedrich Karl von Reventlow, Kleuker obtuvo en 1798 una cátedra de Teología en la Universidad Christian-Albrechts de Kiel.
