Círculo de Augustus Leopold Egg, británico, 1816-1863- Retrato de un caballero sentado, con un libro de cuentas abierto y una pluma; óleo sobre lienzo, 91 x 71,5 cm. Procedencia: Colección privada, Reino Unido. Nota: La presente obra recuerda los característicos retratos de Egg, que se distinguen por una intensa luz procedente de la parte superior izquierda de la composición, la cual resalta los rasgos del retratado. Entre las obras similares de Egg se encuentran su retrato de Henry Charles Hamilton, vendido en Christie’s, Londres, el 15 de marzo de 2012 (lote 104), o su retrato de William Powell Frith, vendido en Roseberys el 22 de noviembre de 2023 (lote 140). Este enfoque también es evidente en un cuadro de Egg que forma parte de la colección del Harris Museum & Art Gallery [PRSMG : P215], y en otro de la Mercer Art Gallery [HARAG : 50].
