William Lee Hankey, RWS RI, británico, 1869-1952- Mujer con niño; lápiz y acuarela sobre papel; lleva una etiqueta de la galería con el nombre del artista y el título en el reverso; 26,2 x 17,8 cm. Procedencia: De Abbey Antiques and Arts, St Albans. Colección privada, Reino Unido. Nota: Hankey era conocido sobre todo por sus paisajes, retratos y representaciones sentimentales de la vida rural, en particular escenas de madres e hijos. Exhibió por primera vez en la Royal Academy en 1896 y pasó gran parte de principios del siglo XX en Francia, donde mantuvo un estudio en la colonia artística de Étaples a partir de 1904, lugar desde el que pintó paisajes y estudios de comunidades rurales de Bretaña y Normandía. También estuvo vinculado a la Escuela de Newlyn. La presente obra es característica de la obra de Hankey. Una pieza similar se vendió en Dreweatts, Newbury, el 13 de marzo de 2024 por 1.200 £ (lote 33).
