Nota: Horatio McCulloch es uno de los artistas escoceses más destacados del siglo XIX, junto con Alexander Nasmyth (1758-1840) y su hijo, Patrick Nasmyth (1787-1831). McCulloch es conocido sobre todo por sus escenas de vistas lejanas de las Highlands y paisajes escarpados, como el presente cuadro, así como por su vista del castillo de Kilchurn, el lago Awe, que se subastó en Sotheby’s, Nueva York, el 28 de enero de 2016, lote 60 (286 000 dólares).
