Atribuido a Anthony Claesz. el Joven, holandés, 1616-1652- Dos estudios de tulipanes: «Estudio de un tulipán azul y blanco abigarrado» y «Estudio de un tulipán morado y blanco abigarrado»; ambos acuarelas sobre papel verjurado, el primero de 23,2 x 8,4 cm, el segundo de 23,9 x 9,1 cm, dos (2). Procedencia: Colección privada, Reino Unido. Nota: La fascinación de Claesz por los tulipanes se hace eco de la ola de «tulipomanía» que se vivió en los Países Bajos a mediados del siglo XVII, la cual provocó una escalada vertiginosa de los precios de los bulbos y, a su vez, una de las caídas bursátiles más significativas de la historia. El presente estudio representa una de las variedades de tulipán más raras y, por lo tanto, más valiosas, con sus pétalos abigarrados y muy rayados, que eran especialmente codiciados.
