Los jarai y los bahnar pertenecen a la gran familia de los «montañeses» y viven en las altas mesetas del centro de Vietnam, cerca de las fronteras con Camboya y Laos. Esta escalera se articula en torno a un eje vertical marcado por una sucesión de seis peldaños que terminan en dos protuberancias y dos cuernos. Más allá de su función principal, tanto utilitaria como simbólica, esta escalera posee una auténtica calidad arquitectónica y una sobriedad estética atemporal.
