Buddha head carved in stone. Asian production. 20th century. Carved sandstone. Dimensions: 57 × 36 × 37 cm. This imposing Buddha head displays the classic features of Buddhist sculpture: half-closed eyes in a meditative expression, lips gently curved in an inner smile, and a central urn on the forehead. The treatment of the hair in stylized curls reveals a synthesis between spiritual idealization and formal schematization. The carving conveys serenity and balance, fundamental to Buddhist iconography, and reflects an aesthetic influenced by Gupta and post-Gupta styles. Its monumentality, along with the surface wear of the stone, suggests it was designed for both indoor and outdoor display. It is a piece of strong symbolic and spiritual presence, integrated within the sacred imagery of Eastern tradition.
