CAMARA, SEYNI AWA (Diouwent, cerca de Oussouye (Senegal), probablemente en 1945 - 2026, Bignona): Figura materna Arcilla cocida Altura: 64 cm Procedencia: Adquirida directamente a la artista, Bignona, 2025; colección privada, Suiza. Certificado (copia): Seyni Awa Camara, Bignona, 6 de diciembre de 2025. Criada en Casamance, al sur de Senegal, Seyni Awa Camara desarrolló un lenguaje visual propio e inconfundible a partir de la alfarería tradicional. Sus figuras, moldeadas en arcilla, combinan elementos humanos, animales y fantásticos, y parecen servir de puente entre la cultura local y su propio mundo espiritual. Alcanzó fama internacional, sobre todo en 1989, gracias a su participación en la exposición pionera «Magiciens de la Terre» en París. Desde entonces, su obra se ha presentado en importantes instituciones y exposiciones de todo el mundo. En 2026, la obra de Seyni Awa Camara se expondrá a título póstumo en el Pabellón Central de la Bienal de Arte de Venecia.
