Maurice Utrillo (París, 1883 – Dax, 1955) Moulin de la Galette en Montmartre Hacia 1923 Óleo sobre cartón Firmado en la parte inferior izquierda: Maurice Utrillo 23,5 × 20,2 cm Maurice Utrillo representó el Moulin de la Galette, donde la gente acudía a bailar. Desde 1912, se accedía al Moulin de la Galette y a su famoso baile bien por una escalera desde el n.º 77 de la calle Lepic, bien por la calle des Deux-Frères, un pequeño camino que desembocaba en el n.º 3 de la calle Girardon. Situado abajo a la derecha: Montmartre La historia del lugar es compleja. Cabe destacar que Nicolas-Charles Debray tuvo una idea genial cuando, en 1834, unió dos molinos a los que añadió una guinguette. Este nuevo conjunto recibió el nombre de «Moulin de la Galette». Siguió siendo un lugar emblemático de la vida artística parisina hasta el periodo de entreguerras.
