La publicación de este volumen de memorias coincidió con la exposición organizada por el Centro Georges Pompidou entre junio y octubre de 1988, a raíz de la donación realizada por Jacqueline y Bernard Gheerbrant. Uno de los 85 ejemplares en papel vitela de Lana, única tirada de lujo, acompañado de un aguafuerte original firmado por Pierre Alechinsky (n.º 67). En el capítulo «Un hombre solo, Henri Michaux» (pp. 100-105), Bernard Gheerbrant evoca, entre otros, a Jacques-Olivier Fourcade, amigo del poeta y editor clandestino de *Nous deux encore*.
