[LAMBERG (Maximilian Joseph von)] Memoirs of a Man of the World. London [Paris], 1776. 2 volumes in one 8vo volume, speckled calfskin binding, smooth spine decorated with gilt floral motifs and a volume number label in red morocco with gilt lettering, red edges (contemporary binding). A new, considerably expanded edition of this travel account of Corsica, Italy, and Tunisia. It contains a frontispiece, a sheet of music, and three engraved plates. The author “recounts his sea voyage from Livorno to Bastia, followed by his stay with the Count of Marbeuf. He provides a brief history of the annexation and dwells on the figures of Pascal Paoli and his brother Clemente. He paints a picture of Corsica and its inhabitants in 1774, describing the island’s riches and the character traits of its people: sobriety, a thirst for revenge, superstitions...”. Restored binding, small tear on the last page. A VERY BEAUTIFUL BOOK THAT RETAINS ITS FRESHNESS
