Greater Caesarea (the city of Kayseri) - Turkey, circa 1965/1970 Wool velvet on a cotton backing. In good overall condition. Beige field decorated with scrollwork, garlands of flowering palmettes, and sprigs of foliage in pastel tones framing a large old-rose floral medallion inlaid with a wreath of pale green and salmon-colored fan-shaped flower buds. Four spandrels with a design reminiscent of the central medallion. Triple borders, the main one being cream-colored and decorated with rows of vault-shaped leaves and stylized waves inlaid with floral bulbs. Length: 290 cm. Width: 196 cm.
