DORÉ, Gustave. Original engraving. Bullfighting scene. A superb original color engraving signed by Gustave Doré, depicting a striking bullfighting scene. Woodcut signed “G. Doré” in the lower left corner (image: 27 x 34 cm), mounted on a mat and framed (frame: 30 x 48 cm). Signs of wear on the frame; slight foxing on the margins without significant damage to the central image. Original engraving by Gustave Doré, depicting a lively bullfight scene. In the center, a bull charges through a group of matadors and toreros holding their capes, while a picador’s horse lies in the foreground. In the background, the crowded stands are visible, along with a box seat in the upper right corner. A highly detailed engraving, typical of Gustave Doré’s dramatic and dynamic style, highlighting the interplay of contrasts, the movement of the figures, and the expression of the crowd. This engraving was published in *The Illustrated London News* in October 1856, under the title “The Bullfight at Bayonne Before the Emperor and Empress of the French.” In fine condition.
