[MOVIES - PATHE]. Wishing you a Happy New Year 1938. Pathe Consortium Cinema. Paris, Atelier Vichniac, n.d. [1937] In-4 booklet, paperback with aluminum spine, orange and green cover printed in black and red. 3 unnumbered folios on heavy green and orange paper, 4 "pop-up" panels made of die-cut cardboard and illustrated in black and white. Slight crease marks; discolored margins on the green paper folios. Extremely rare end-of-year promotional booklet published by the Pathé Consortium Cinema for the 1938 movie season, designed as a pop-up book by Atelier Vichniac. Each page reveals a three-dimensional pop-up panel made of die-cut cardboard, showcasing the flagship films distributed or produced by Pathé for the coming year, accompanied by complete creative and technical credits (directors, actors, production). Four films are highlighted here: *Hercule* (directed by Alexander Esway and Carlo Rim, starring Fernandel, Gaby Morlay, Jules Berry, and Pierre Brasseur) - *Les Filles du Rhône* (directed by Jean-Paul Paulin, starring Annie Ducaux, Daniel Lecourtois, and Alexandre Rignault) - Êtes-vous jalouse ? (directed by Henri Chomette, based on a story by A. Bisson and A. Leclercq, starring Suzy Prim, André Luguet, and Gabrielle Dorziat) - *Mollenard* (directed by Robert Siodmak, screenplay by Charles Spaak, starring Harry Baur, Albert Préjean, Gabrielle Dorziat, and Pierre Renoir). A remarkable example of animated promotional print, a valuable testament to the golden age of French cinema in the 1930s, bringing together legendary stars (Fernandel, Harry Baur, Gaby Morlay) and leading directors. A beautiful and rare copy.
