"This historical and intimate epic traces the fate of Jean and Pauline, a couple confronted with the upheavals of the early decades of the 20th century. Romantic and social adventures intertwine, making this love story a subtle portrayal of the bourgeois, provincial society of the great cognac and porcelain manufacturers." From the library of Firmijn Van der Loo (1913–1997), painter, poet, and member of the Société des bibliophiles et iconophiles de Belgique, with his modern bookplate pasted to the endpapers. A very fine copy in a signed binding.
