BEMBO, Pietro, and PORCACCHI, Tommaso. *Degli Asolani di Messer Pietro Bembo Cardinale libri*. A fine Veronese edition of Pietro Bembo’s *Azolains*, with commentary by the humanist scholar Tommaso Porcacchi. Verona, Pietro Antonio Berno, 1743. In-8, full cream vellum. 2 ff., 220 pp., and 5 ff., copper-engraved title vignette, headpieces, initials, and tailpieces. In Italian. Vellum soiled, headbands rubbed, small loss in the margin of the title page, loose stitching, some discoloration. A fine Veronese edition of Pietro Bembo’s (1470–1547) *Azolani*, a seminal work of Italian Renaissance Neoplatonism, written in the form of philosophical and amorous dialogues at the court of Asolo, in the presence of Catherine Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus. This 18th-century edition reproduces the scholarly text annotated and commented on by the humanist scholar Tommaso Porcacchi (1530–1585), supplemented with explanatory notes at the beginning of each book. A pleasant copy.
