An album of 15 watercolor plates by Oscar Fabrès illustrating scenes from brothels, accompanied by a text by Eugène Marsan. This copy is enhanced by a signed autograph dedication from the artist to Henri Vidal and an original color watercolor. Paris, Au divan, 1926. Water stain in one corner of the cover, on the double-page spread of text, and on the last 3 plates; small tear at the bottom of the double-page spread; and 2 dog-eared corners on the cover. An album of satirical and erotic art featuring a text by journalist, critic, and writer Eugène Marsan (1882–1936) and 15 plates colored in watercolor by Chilean illustrator Oscar Fabrès (1894–1960), depicting the clientele, women, and madams of the brothels of the era—the famous “red-light districts.” Limited edition of 100 copies; this is an artist’s proof enhanced with an autographed inscription by Oscar Fabrès to the architect, French architect, painter, and interior designer Henri-Antoine Vidal (1895–1955), mentioning the cabaret-dancing club La Cigogne, a renowned nightclub in Paris during the Roaring Twenties: “To Henri Vidal, in memory of indescribable evenings at La Cigogne, which he decorated so beautifully. Warm regards, O. Fabrès.” It is also accompanied by an original color watercolor (170 x 230 mm), unsigned but attributable to Oscar Fabrès, depicting a woman holding a white cat in her arms against an abstract geometric background. The plates are crisp and well-preserved.
