First edition of the most comprehensive study ever published on the cosmogony, mythology, and rituals of the Dogon people of the Bandiagara Escarpment (Mali), based on several ethnographic expeditions led by the ethnologist Marcel Griaule between 1928 and 1937 in Abyssinia, from Dakar to Djibouti (with Michel Leiris, who wrote *L’Afrique fantôme* on this occasion).
