SAINT-OGAN (Alain). — Zig and Puce. Volume 4: 1933–1934. Paris, Futuropolis, 1988. Large quarto, publisher’s color-illustrated hardcover. First edition of this fourth volume in the complete collection of the adventures of Zig and Puce, bringing together two stories: Zig and Puce and the Little Princess (1933) and Zig and Puce in the 20th Century (1933–1934). These adventures, originally published in *Dimanche-Illustré*, showcase the graphic and narrative ingenuity of Alain Saint-Ogan (1895–1974), one of the great pioneers of French comics and the use of speech bubbles in comic storytelling. The book includes a detailed bibliography of the episodes, compiled by Dominique Petitfaux, as well as a photographic portrait of the author. Color-illustrated cover; the lower flap features a black-and-yellow design. Published by Futuropolis, 1988, with a Greg copyright notice. A fine copy, showing slight signs of handling.
