MORRIS. — Lucky Luke. Arizona. Marcinelle-Charleroi, Éditions Dupuis, 1969. In-4, softcover with publisher’s illustrations, square spine, 46 color plates. Lucky Luke Collection, No. 3. A 1969 reprint of the third volume of the Lucky Luke adventures, originally published in 1951 by Éditions Dupuis. Text and illustrations by Morris. This volume brings together two adventures: *Arizona* and *Lucky Luke vs. Cigarette Cæsar*. These stories belong to the series’ early period, before Morris began collaborating with René Goscinny, and reflect the evolution of the Lucky Luke creator’s art style and sense of humor. In “Arizona,” the famous cowboy faces the dangers of the American West, from bandits to chases and showdowns. In “Lucky Luke vs. Cigarette Cæsar,” he must confront a formidable adversary in an adventure blending action and slapstick situations. The cover depicts Lucky Luke on his horse Jolly Jumper, crossing a wooden footbridge that collapses beneath their hooves. This dynamic composition illustrates the energy and humor characteristic of Morris. Condition: Good copy. The cover has fresh, well-preserved colors, with slight signs of handling and some scuffing along the edges. The spine and corners are slightly worn. The interior is clean, with a subtle patina on the paper.
