MORRIS. — Lucky Luke. Rodeo. Marcinelle-Charleroi, Éditions Dupuis, 1967. In-4, softcover with illustrations by the publisher, square spine, 46 color plates. Lucky Luke Collection, No. 2. A 1967 reprint of the second volume of the Lucky Luke adventures, originally published in 1949 by Éditions Dupuis. Text and illustrations by Morris. This album brings together three early adventures of the famous cowboy: *Grand Rodeo*, *Lucky Luke in Desperado City*, and *The Buffalo Creek Gold Rush*. These stories, created before Morris began collaborating with René Goscinny, reflect the early years of the series and the gradual development of its humorous style. In *Grand Rodéo*, Lucky Luke takes part in a rodeo competition where his skill and composure are put to the test. The other stories take him to towns in the American West, surrounded by colorful characters, gold prospectors, and outlaws. The cover, which is particularly dynamic, depicts Lucky Luke attempting to rein in a skittish horse during a rodeo, amid a whirlwind of dust, as spectators look on. This composition, characteristic of Morris’s style, perfectly captures the humor and action that would make the series a success. Condition: Good copy. The cover has fresh, well-preserved colors, with a few slight signs of handling. Corners and edges are slightly rubbed. The interior is clean, with a subtle patina on the paper.
