MORRIS and GOSCINNY (René). — Lucky Luke. The Ghost Town. Marcinelle-Charleroi, Éditions Dupuis, 1966. In-4, softcover with publisher’s illustrations, square spine, 46 color plates. Lucky Luke Collection, No. 25. First edition in album format of this Lucky Luke adventure, illustrated by Morris based on a story by René Goscinny. In this episode, Lucky Luke meets two prospectors, Denver Miles and Colorado Bill, who lead him to Gold Hill, an old, abandoned mining town. The discovery of a gold vein will soon stir up greed and transform this deserted town into the setting for new adventures. Originally published in the magazine *Spirou*, *The Ghost Town* is part of the golden age of collaboration between Morris and René Goscinny. In it, the authors satirize the gold rush and the boom towns of the American West, blending farcical situations, colorful characters, and a critique of human greed. The cover, illustrated in shades of purple, depicts Lucky Luke on Jolly Jumper in the middle of an abandoned town, surrounded by bats and a ghost, in a particularly evocative nocturnal atmosphere. Condition: A good copy showing slight signs of wear and some scuffing along the edges and corners. The cover retains fresh, vibrant colors. The interior is slightly yellowed, with a few scattered foxing spots.
