YOUNG (Chic) and RAYMOND (Alex). — Blondie. Volume 1: 1931–1932. Futuropolis, n.d. Oblong in-4 album, publisher’s illustrated cardboard binding, spine bearing the title and authors’ names. Black-and-white comic strips. First volume of this French edition dedicated to the early adventures of Blondie, the famous American comic strip created by Chic Young in 1930, with the collaboration of Alex Raymond in his early career. This first original edition in this format reproduces the daily strips from 1931 and 1932, presented in their original horizontal layout. It notably includes the story arcs titled “Angels and Devils,” “College Life,” “Tropical Cruise,” and “The Fiancés.” An interesting glimpse into the early days of the American comic strip, before Blondie and Dagwood became one of the most iconic couples in popular comics. A fine copy, with a well-preserved illustrated hardcover, showing some slight signs of handling and minor scuffing. Clean interior.
