AMLETO DALLA COSTA (Milan, 1929–2024). “Il capello rosso.” Silkscreen print. Printed by DallaCosta. Signed on the plate and stamped by the artist. Measurements: 80 x 60 cm. This silkscreen print by Amleto Dalla Costa is representative of the maturity of his visual language and reflects the synthesis of art, graphic design, and advertising that characterized his entire career. The composition, built with flat forms, a limited palette of black, white, and red, and a stylized female figure, reflects the aesthetics of Italy at that time. Amleto Dalla Costa was a multidisciplinary Italian artist, renowned for his work as a painter, silkscreen artist, photographer, graphic designer, and advertising professional. Self-taught, he developed his own visual language that combined figurative art with influences from advertising and design. He began his career in animation and graphic design, and in the early 1950s, he founded the ARDACO photography studio in Milan, together with Giorgio Armani, which specialized in fashion photography. He subsequently worked for two decades in the advertising industry, creating campaigns and posters for major Italian companies. In 1975, he devoted himself fully to painting, and a year later, he opened the Brera 3 gallery in Milan, which also housed his screen-printing studio and became an important center for the dissemination of his work. Throughout his career, he participated in more than 250 solo and group exhibitions in Europe, Japan, South Africa, and the United States, and his work was featured at the 51st Venice Biennale.
