ANTONIO SAURA (Huesca, 1930 - Cuenca, 1998). "Responsos", 1978. Folder with twelve original silkscreen prints by Antonio Saura and texts by José-Miguel Ullán. Copy LXV/C. Signed and numbered in the print run justification by both authors. Stamped in Cuenca by the workshop of Javier Cebrián. Printed on Guarro paper. Measurements: 33,5 × 23 cm. Folder "Responsos", first issue of Antojos, made in 1978 in a print run of one hundred copies numbered from I to C. The set brings together twelve original silkscreen prints by Antonio Saura and twelve texts by José-Miguel Ullán, establishing a dialogue between image and word around the expressive intensity, the sign and the almost spectral presence of the face. The silkscreen prints show a repertoire very characteristic of Saura's universe: deformed heads, nervous strokes, minimal gestures and a great chromatic economy reduced to black and white. The line, fast and apparently impulsive, builds figures of enormous psychological tension, between caricature, mask and ghost. Antonio Saura was one of the great figures of Spanish informalism and co-founder of the El Paso group. His work, marked by gestural intensity and critical revision of the Spanish pictorial tradition, is represented in institutions such as the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the IVAM in Valencia, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.
