OKRABELO (Barcelona, 1984). “Bunee Qee,” 2013. Vinyl figure with hand-painted details based on the Bunee Qee model by Toy2R. Signed “OKRABELO” on the base. Bearing the Toy2R manufacturer’s mark and the date “2013.” Shows superficial scuffs. Measurements: 25.5 x 13 x 7.5 cm. This figure belongs to the art toy universe, a movement that combines the design of collectible toys with contemporary artistic intervention. Based on the Bunee Qee model by Toy2R, it features an urban-inspired design dominated by shades of green, white, and dark blue, with geometric compositions, splatters, and graphic strokes. The character’s distinctive expression, defined by a large, stylized eye, and the inclusion of the artist’s name on the back reflect Okrabelo’s visual language, which is linked to graffiti and urban art. The piece is part of a series of design toy interventions developed by the artist, who participated in the charitable project SWAB Toy’z by FLS, organized in collaboration with Swab Barcelona. Okrabelo is a Barcelona-based urban artist trained in graphic arts at the Escola del Treball. His body of work combines painting, collage, graffiti, and character design, with the figure of the Bestia Okok—inspired by the monsters of Japanese kaiju folklore—standing out. He has participated in international exhibitions such as “Future Nature” (JPS Gallery, Tokyo, 2020) and “Bonjour Paris” (2022), as well as in group projects related to urban art and designer toys.
