TERÁN (Chile, 1974). “Tribute to Picasso.” Tribute to the Geniuses series, 2022–2023. Oil on canvas. A certificate can be issued upon the buyer’s request. Signed on the side. Signed and dated on the back. Measurements: 60 x 60 cm. In this work, Terán draws inspiration from Picasso’s 1954 portrait of Jacqueline with Flowers to create his own unique tribute to the master. The history of the original portrait adds a special interest to the piece, since, in 2007, *Jacqueline with Flowers* was stolen from the home of Diana Widmaier-Picasso, the artist’s granddaughter, along with another painting. For a time, the fate of both paintings remained unknown until they were recovered in Paris. Those responsible for the theft were subsequently arrested. Terán does not simply paint Jacqueline. He paints the memory of Picasso, the enduring nature of an image, and the fascination exerted by a work capable of reappearing, decades later, to continue generating new perspectives. Terán is a Chilean visual artist with a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Chile who has been based in Spain since 2000. Throughout his career, he has held solo and group exhibitions in Europe and Latin America. His work is part of public and private collections, including that of the Museum of Visual Arts (MAVI) in Santiago, Chile. Among his most notable projects is *Retrato Capital*, begun in 2005, a series dedicated to the contemporary urban landscape that has traveled to numerous Spanish cities. More recently, he has developed the series *Tribute to the Geniuses*. A certificate may be issued at the buyer's request.
