ENRIQUE DONOSO (Madrid, 1963). "A Clockwork Orange," 2013. Dry pastel on panel. Signed and dated. Measurements: 93 x 140 cm. 102 x 149 cm. (frame). Enrique Donoso is a prominent contemporary Spanish painter, teacher, and researcher associated with the figurative realism movement. Throughout his career, he has distinguished himself through his tireless work to revive and adapt the painting techniques and methods of the great masters of classical painting. During his training, he completed internships and studied alongside the leading figures of contemporary realism, notably Antonio López, Eduardo Naranjo, and Guillermo Muñoz-Vera. His work stands apart from a mere photographic or mechanical copy of reality. Donoso maintains that painting must go beyond pure form, seeking to capture “the sublime imperfection, the ardent pulse, and the vibrant passion of the human soul.” His compositions include portraits with profound psychological depth and still lifes executed with mathematical precision and mastery of light. Furthermore, he excels in the technical realm due to his exhaustive research into the formulation of genuine pigments and the artisanal preparation of painting surfaces. He is a virtuoso in both oil on canvas and wood as well as pastel painting.
