“ZUSH”; ALBERTO PORTA (Barcelona, 1946–2025). “Gesoro,” 1982. Mixed media on paper. Titled, signed, and dated on the reverse. Measurements: 30.5 x 22 cm; 38 x 31.5 cm (frame). “Gesoro” belongs to the period during which Zush’s unique universe took shape, developed since the late 1960s around the imagery of the Evrugo Mental State. The hybrid figure is constructed through lines, marks, symbols, and annotations that transform the body into a sort of fantastical map. The mixed-media technique enhances this fusion of drawing, writing, and image, a hallmark of his artistic language. Zush was one of the most unique and experimental figures in Spanish art during the second half of the 20th century. Albert Porta adopted this artistic identity in 1968 and maintained it until 2001, when he began using the name Evru. His career was highlighted in exhibitions at the Reina Sofía Museum and the MACBA, and his work is included in collections such as those of the Reina Sofía Museum and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
