Érik Desmazières (born 1948) Register and Shells. 2002. Etching. [465 x 170 mm]. Fitch 183. A very fine state of the print, printed full-sheet on old laid paper from the register depicted, annotated in pen and ink on the lower left margin on the reverse: “third state (of four),” signed and dated. Frayed paper edges and a small missing section in the upper right corner (original). Final edition of 40 prints on azure laid paper, in addition to 50 on old laid paper taken from the aforementioned register. AABM stamp (Lugt 3075). It was Arsène Bonafous-Murat who gave this register to the artist and suggested that he produce the print run on sheets torn from the volume—which thus gradually disappeared as the sheets were used.
