Érik Desmazières (born 1948) Il Cavaliere e il suo servo. 1991. Etching and drypoint. 445 x 615 [560 x 760 mm]. Fitch not described. Perfect print on white vellum, from the first and only state, signed and dated in pencil. Full margins. Very rare. AABM stamp (Lugt 3075). Plate engraved on the reverse side of the copper plate for the Passage Choiseul expansion project (1990) and never printed. The inscription “for Ned and Hugo” refers to the youngest sons of the London print dealer Christopher Mendez (1943–2025). The artist’s archives—to whom we extend our thanks—mention six other proofs, all retouched, dated successively in 1990, 1991, and 1992. One of the retouched proofs was included in the artist’s exhibition (June 26–September 21, 2014) at the Musée de l’Hospice Comtesse in Lille and was published in the accompanying catalog, *Érik Desmazières, des mondes gravés*, Lille, published by Invenit, under no. 72.
