Guillaume Coustou (1677–1746) was a sculptor from Lyon, the nephew and pupil of Antoine Coysevox. He was admitted to the Academy in 1703. He worked at Versailles, Trianon, Marly, and Paris. This subject was engraved by Larmessin for his admission to the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture. He also submitted an engraved portrait of Claude-Guy Hallé (the latter engraved after a work by Jean Le Gros). The original painting by Jacques-François Delyen, a Belgian painter admitted to the Academy and appointed as the King’s court painter, is now housed at the Palace of Versailles.
