A very fine print on thin laid paper. A horizontal drying crease down the center. Narrow margins. Formerly in the Brentano-Birckenstock Collection (Lugt 345); Henri Rossier (Lugt 1357); Dr. Henri Rossier, son of the former (Lugt 4713). AABM stamp (Lugt 3075). Antoine Vitré (1587–1674) was a 17th-century French printer and bookseller, renowned as the King’s printer for Oriental languages and for the clergy of France. Notably, he produced a polyglot Bible (1628–1645), a monumental publication in ten folio volumes (seven languages). He was a pioneer in the use of Eastern typefaces in typography.
