MIRO, Joan (1893–1983), after Constellations, 1964. Printed on silk gazar. Shawl made by Brochier in Lyon using silk from Abraham. 120 x 120 cm Note: A very rare example of the shawl created for the inauguration of the Aimée and Marguerite Maeght Foundation in 1964 in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. Joan Miró’s preparatory sketch for the shawl is preserved in the Foundation’s collections. The shawl, of which only a few were produced, was given by Aimée Maeght to her closest friends. A photograph from the archives of Mrs. Yoyo Maeght shows Pilar, Joan Miró’s wife, wearing one of these shawls in the Foundation’s gardens.
