Spanish school of the XVIII century "The Virgin of the milk". Oil on copper. Measurements: 22.5 × 16 cm; 43 × 38 cm (frame). The Virgin of the milk represents the iconography of the Virgo lactans, one of the most intimate Marian images of the Christian tradition. The scene shows the Virgin breastfeeding the Child, a gesture that underlines the humanity of Christ and presents Mary as nurturing mother, protector and intercessor. The composition combines domestic tenderness and sacred sense: the Child approaches the mother's breast, while the golden halo recalls the divine dimension of the image. The copper support favors a meticulous and luminous execution, especially visible in the flesh tones, the white cloth and the intense red of the mantle, typical of a work destined for private devotion.
