[PARGUEZ]. Catalog of lithographs. Works by Bonington, Charlet, Descamps, Delacroix, Devéria, Géricault, Ingres, Prud’hon, Horace Vernet; by art collectors such as: the Duchess of Berry, the Princess of Chimay, Baron Denon, etc., etc.; and illustrated books. Paris, 1861. — In-8, 260 x 180: XVI, 87 pp. Red half-maroquin, ribbed spine, gilt head, untrimmed (contemporary binding). A very rare catalog of the auction of the extensive Parguez collection, comprising more than 750 lots of lithographs and illustrated books. The auction was organized by Maître Delbergue-Cormont, assisted by Mr. Vignères as an expert, and took place over three days, April 22, 23, and 24, 1861. The preface is by Philippe Burty. A precious copy on Dutch laid paper, fully interleaved and bearing in the margins most of the prices and the names of the buyers. It has been supplemented with the admission ticket to the auction, an article by Le Cauchois Féraud discussing the auction, as well as a very beautiful and lengthy letter in the author’s own hand by Joseph-Félix Le Blanc de La Combe (1790–1862), dated Tours, October 12, 1861, 4 pages in-8, devoted to the Parguez collection and to Charlet, on whom he was an expert, having published the catalog raisonné of his work. Some wear on the spine.
