DEHARME (Lise) - MIRÓ (Joan). “Once Upon a Time There Was a Little Magpie.” 7 songs and 3 songs for Hyacinthe. [Paris]: Jeanne Bucher, 1928. — Folio, 330 x 250: (19 leaves, last one blank). Publisher’s illustrated gray cloth binding, green cloth spine, fabric bands. First edition of Lise Deharme’s first collection of poetry, published under her maiden name, Lise Hirtz. The text is reproduced in facsimile of the poet’s handwriting and accompanied by 8 color drawings by Joan MIRÓ (1893–1983), stenciled by Jean Saudé. This is the painter’s first artist’s book. A proof copy on Arches vellum, one of the few bound copies, entirely mounted on tabs, without the printed margin or the printed dedication to Georges Auric on the reverse of the title page. The illustrations include the placement text, which is not always the case. Lise Deharme has enhanced the title page with a signed autograph copy of the poem “Champs Élysées.” Very well-preserved copy.
