VAN CLEEF & ARPELS "Teardrop" LACE CLIP in yellow gold (750 ‰) set with brilliant-cut diamonds and 18 pear-shaped cabochon turquoises, including a larger one in the center. Signed VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, numbered. Made in France, circa 1960. Master jeweler’s hallmark of PERY & Fils. Dimensions: 4.7 x 3 cm. Gross weight: 20.9 g. In the 1960s and 70s, through the influence of hippie culture, Indian iconography—with its “Boteh,” “Kashmir,” palm, and Buddha motifs—left its mark on VAN CLEEF & ARPELS, which saw it as a source of inspiration, both in terms of motifs and the joyfully polychromatic color palette.
