JAPAN - 20th century "Nanban"-style spyglass, sheathed in black lacquered leather and signed "Tozo." The instrument consists of four telescoping sections, each sheathed in black lacquered leather and adorned with a delicate design of gilded foliage. The name “Tozo” appears in Latin characters on each section. Both ends are fitted with their original caps. Dimensions: length (fully extended): 75.3 cm; diameter: 4.7 cm. (Signs of wear, missing parts, etc.)
