JAPAN - 20th century Large suspended drum (court or shrine). The circular frame is adorned with an openwork gold-plated metal flame engraved with swirling cloud motifs, This large suspended drum (taiko) features gold-colored drumheads secured by a single row of dome-shaped rivets to a brown-lacquered keyaki wood frame. The circular frame and upright are lacquered black with red borders and adorned with stylized flame motifs. The frame and legs are removable, and the drum itself can also be detached from the frame. Includes a pair of black-lacquered wooden bachi 撥 (beating sticks), which can be hung from the metal rings on the side. Approximate dimensions of the complete frame: Height 125 cm, width 64 cm, depth 52.5 cm. Drum dimensions: Diameter 39.5 cm, depth 15.5 cm. (Restorations, wear and tear, minor loss of gilding, etc.)
