JAPAN - Late 19th century Large Japanese flat drum (平太鼓, hira-daiko), consisting of a solid keyaki body with skins stretched on both sides. The skin is secured along the edges with rounded iron nails. It is fitted with two iron carrying rings, each mounted on a chrysanthemum-shaped plate. Several old ink inscriptions are still visible on the side of the drum. Dimensions: Diameter 52 cm, height 19 cm. (Signs of wear, missing parts...)
